Cub Scouts is all about exploring the great outdoors, developing new skills, and building community. Throughout the year, Pack 96 has numerous fun activities, including camping trips, pack hikes, community service projects, and other exciting events that will engage your child and encourage their curiosity.
About Pack 96
Our Pack is for boys and girls in Kindergarten through 5th Grade. We currently have over 20 active scouts from across Merced, Atwater, and Winton.
Pack Meetings: Cub Scouts follows the academic calendar, beginning a program cycle each August through May. New families and scouts are welcome to join at any time, though start of the school year is recommended to enjoy all the fun!

During the School Year, the Pack meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month

During the summer, the Pack plans an activity at least once a month
The Pack is made up of 6 dens, organized by grade:

Outdoor Program
Each program cycle, the Pack plans 2 Hikes and 2 Campouts with 1 hike / campout in the fall and the other in the spring. Additional outdoor activities may be scheduled as opportunities arise.
Fall:

Hike: Mirror Lake at Yosemite National Park. Scouts from Tiger Den (1st Grade) through Arrow of Light (5th Grade) hiked the 5-mile trail and earned a special patch!

Campout: Lake Del Valle. Scouts learned knot tying, knife safety, and all about praying mantis during our visit to the Nature Center.
Spring:

Hike: The Pack hiked Point Lobos in Monterey

Campout: The Pack camped at Lake McSwain and learned how to fish!
Summer Adventure Series
As the school year winds down, Pack 96 plans monthly adventures for cub scouts. For scouts that participate in at least 3 adventures and/or day camps, they can earn the Summer Adventurer award.
