Cub Scouts is a family-centered Scouting program dedicated to helping young Scouts learn, grow, and have fun through hands-on adventures and new experiences. Throughout the year, our Scouts participate in camping, hiking, fishing, Pinewood Derby, community service, outdoor activities, fundraising, and other exciting adventures. Along the way, they build confidence, learn new skills, make friendships, and discover the importance of teamwork, leadership, and helping others.
About Pack 96
Our Pack is a growing, family-oriented Cub Scout Pack welcoming boys and girls in kindergarten through 5th grade. We currently have over 20 active scouts from across Merced, Atwater, and Winton.
Pack Meetings: Pack 96 follows the school-year calendar, with our regular Scouting program running from August through May. Families are welcome to join at any time during the year, although joining near the beginning of the school year gives Scouts the opportunity to experience a full year of adventures and activities!

During the School Year: Pack 96 meets on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.

During the Summer: The adventure continues! While we take a break from our regular meeting schedule, Pack 96 plans at least one fun activity or adventure each month to keep our Scouts and families connected throughout the summer.
The Pack is made up of 6 dens, organized by grade giving them the opportunity to work on age-appropriate adventures while also coming together for Pack activities and events.

Outdoor Program
Each program cycle, the Pack plans 2 Hikes and 2 Campouts with 1 hike / campout in the fall and the other in the spring. Additional outdoor activities may be scheduled as opportunities arise.
Fall:

Hike: Coming October 2026 Dragoon Gulch Trail - Sonora CA, Scouts will see scenic overlooks of the Sierra Nevada foothills.

Campout: Coming October 2026 Calaveras Big Tree State Park - Camping under California's Most Magnificat Giant Sequoias!
Spring:

Hike: Coming 2027 - Merced River Trail - Beautiful wildflowers and scenic views of the Merced River.

Summer Adventure Series
As the school year winds down, Pack 96 plans monthly adventures for cub scouts. For scouts that participate in at least 3 adventures and/or day camps, they can earn the Summer Adventurer award.
